Project and Program Management
Client:
Major Telecommunications Firm: IT Group
Challenge:
Rapid company expansion demanded improved data-sharing to ensure managers were
aware of the status of individual projects. E-mail and paper were the primary
means of document and processes management, which led to inefficiencies in workflow
and rapidly increasing demands on e-mail infrastructure.
Project managers would
have to manually check all the correct forms and procedures had been followed
for each stage of a project’s process: bid, plan, review, close, and monitor.
With so many project owners, chasing monthly review forms to assess a project’s
status required managers to manually set reminders through Microsoft Outlook,
which was cumbersome and time consuming.
Solution:
In order to deliver the required management and automation capabilities, Atidan
designed a comprehensive team solution for project collaboration, financial
processes and document management bundled with proprietary workflow, notification
and reporting dashboards.
Designed to be fast, scalable and intuitive the
solution was architected on a three-tier .NET software foundation, consisting
of Microsoft server technologies including, SharePoint 2007, Enterprise Project
Management 2007, SQL Server and BizTalk. Business Objects Crystal Vision Server
provides the operational reports, dashboards, and interactive visual models
for the solution. Using web services the system was integrated with external
workgroup and enterprise systems where necessary for completing process flows
or sharing information.
Benefits:
- Improved visibility into processes: Managers are now able to unlock critical data that was deeply embedded in divergent systems, allowing users to get information they need to make timely, well-informed decisions.
- Eliminate duplication of effort: Project lifecycle was shortened through coordination, eliminating duplication of effort, consistent reporting, and enhanced collaboration.
- Enhanced communication and collaboration within and between teams: Project quality improvements were realized through enhanced communication and collaboration between stages and among teams.
- Adherence to budget and schedule: IT teams now have tools to track and measure progress in real time, resulting in development projects being delivered on time and on budget.
